PORCELAINia
MONTEREY

The landscape of Monterey expresses balance without symmetry, hence the name for this style. The pieces used in the fabrication of this type of vessel are quite dissimilar, yet when combined in the Monterey style, depict harmony. It results when a hodge podge of pieces and scraps are assembled into two plaster hemispheres of different size. The larger one forms the vessel's body and the smaller its lid, so the lid of a Monterey piece will be larger than in all other styles. This style requires the least amount of time to complete a finished piece, usually about four months.
